Description
In The Crying Game series, Marcelle Hanselaar, a Dutch artist, confronts us with different situations that trespass human boundaries. She brings acts to light exposing stories of violence and war and the consequent impact brought on innocent people. Marcelle works mainly in black and white. The power of the line created by the bite of acid into the plate expresses the drama and rawness of her subject matter. And although empathic, her rebellious nature channels a dark humour to her prints.
Hanselaar works are very powerful, communicating strong emotions and feelings. Thanks to her talent she is now part of the the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Print Collection in New York.
