Meet Katarina Nedeljkovic…
Serbian artist Katarina Nedeljkovic explores womanhood's complexities through her compelling charcoal drawings of female nudes. By obscuring facial expressions, she emphasizes the powerful emotions conveyed through body language. Her figures, marked by the signs of life lived, reveal deep emotional narratives through their posture and gestures.
Nedeljkovic's remarkable style captures the complexity of human emotions with contrasting textures and expressive strokes. Her large-scale black-and-white drawings present female figures that confront viewers with both vulnerability and strength. In her complex and competitive paintings, Stephanie Krumbholz uses pencil, oil and gouache. The repetitive elements encourage the viewer to sharpen their vision into the canvas, and to discover the complexities that lie behind. The artist’s creative decisions and the physical processes behind the works are partially visible; layers of material and medium are superimposed over one another. This elegance of layering and subtle minimalism allows the viewer's gaze to linger on the work, creating rethinking new forms and contexts. By leaving past ideas within the piece, the artist provides the viewer with a calm space to explore and consider their own thoughts.
