About the artist:

German artist Martin Karcher is educated in communication design at University of Konstanz and Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee. His figurative works expresses a subjective view of people you typically would expect to meet in big cities – often somewhat eccentric individuals. The minimalistic, realistic technique in his acrylic paintings, as well as in his etchings, is combined with an almost romantic view of the people, places and situations he collects and documents. His characters look like real people, they are comfortable in their skin and with their bodies. Even when the backdrop suggests a harsh reality the characters are in power, this is expressed through the clothes they are wearing with collars similar to that of Elizabeth the 1st of England. His graphic prints show high technical skills, are appealing and invite the viewer to stories with an open end.
